Update your sender email prefix

You can update your sender email prefix at any time without re-verifying your domain.
  1. From the PayPal dashboard, go to Invoicing > Settings > Domain.
  2. Select Update Sender Prefix.
  3. Enter your new prefix.
  4. Select Save.
Your updated sender address appears in the Domain settings.
Note: Avoid changing your sender prefix frequently. It may cause confusion for buyers who recognize your existing sender address.

Deactivate your domain

Deactivating your domain reverts all invoice emails to service@paypal.com until you reactivate it. Your domain remains verified and you can reactivate it at any time.
  1. Go to Invoicing > Settings > Domain.
  2. Select Deactivate Domain.
Your domain status updates to inactive and invoice emails revert to service@paypal.com.

Reactivate your domain

  1. Go to Invoicing > Settings > Domain.
  2. Slide the toggle to activate domain.
Your domain status updates to active and invoice emails resume sending from your custom domain.

Remove your domain

Removing your domain permanently reverts all invoice emails to service@paypal.com. To use a custom domain again, complete the setup wizard from the beginning.
  1. Go to Invoicing > Settings > Domain.
  2. Select Remove Domain.
Your domain is removed, and invoice emails revert to service@paypal.com permanently. After removing the domain from PayPal, clean up the unused DNS records from your DNS provider.

Ongoing domain monitoring

After initial verification, PayPal continuously monitors your domain to ensure email deliverability is maintained. If a record goes missing or becomes invalid, custom sending is suspended and emails revert to service@paypal.com until the records are restored. You receive email notifications for the following domain lifecycle events:

Switch to a different domain

Each merchant account supports one custom domain at a time. To switch to a new domain, remove your existing domain first, then run through the dashboard setup again.
