Country-specific payout restrictions

Malaysia	MYR	Malaysian users can send payouts in MYR to other Malaysian users and send payouts in other currencies to all users. Malaysian users cannot send payouts that require exchange to or from MYR, or send MYR balances to non-Malaysian users.
China	CNY	PayPal China Platform allows merchants to receive cross-border payouts and settle in CNY.

Currency conversion

PayPal Payouts supports automatic currency conversion when the payout currency differs from the recipient’s account currency. However, some countries and currencies have exclusions or restrictions.

Note:

• Always check the recipient’s country and currency eligibility before initiating a payout with currency conversion.
• For restricted countries, review the specific rules below to avoid payout failures.
• Use the supported currency list to determine if automatic conversion is available for your use case.
• The conversion rate applied to payouts includes PayPal’s spread or fee. For details, refer to the merchant fees page.
• If you attempt to send a payout to a country or currency with exclusions or restrictions, the payout may fail or be returned.

Restrictions

Some countries have specific restrictions on currency conversion for payouts:

Supported Currencies for Automatic Conversion

When a payout is sent in a currency different from the recipient’s account currency, PayPal automatically converts the amount using the applicable exchange rate, which includes PayPal’s currency conversion spread or fee.
