PayPal’s Store Sync App

Overview

PayPal’s Store Sync App syncs your product catalog with PayPal’s agentic commerce platform, allowing your products to appear in AI assistants such as Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and PayPal Assistant - with more to come - helping customers discover and purchase them seamlessly. Once installed, PayPal syncs your catalog across AI surfaces automatically. No additional setup is required beyond the steps below.

Prerequisites

Before installing the Store Sync app, ensure the following requirements are met:

PayPal Business AccountActive PayPal business account to connect Store Sync
MarketUnited States only
Note: If you do not yet have a PayPal business account, create one at www.paypal.com/business. After creating your account, return to BigCommerce and follow the installation steps below.

Installation Steps

Step 1 — Find the app in BigCommerce marketplace

Log in to your BigCommerce Control Panel. Navigate to Apps > App Marketplace and search for “PayPal’s Store Sync”. Select the app to view its detail page. Review the features, benefits, and data sharing information before proceeding.

Step 2 — Click install

On the app detail page, click Install. BigCommerce displays a permissions screen listing the access the app requires.

Step 3 — Review & confirm permissions

Review the requested permissions and click Confirm to proceed. By confirming, you consent to your product catalog being shared through PayPal’s Store Sync platform with Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, with more to come.

Step 4 — Installation confirmation

Once connected, a confirmation screen appears. PayPal begins processing your catalog, and your products will be live on eligible AI surfaces within 24 to 48 hours. No further action is required, as PayPal handles syncing and distribution automatically.

Step 5 — Installation complete

Once setup is complete, the Store Sync dashboard shows Activated status, confirming that your store is connected to AI platforms. If setup is incomplete, a message is displayed indicating that your PayPal business account must be linked before activation can proceed.

Viewing Your App Status

To check the status of your Store Sync integration at any time:
  • In your BigCommerce Control Panel, go to Apps > My Apps.
  • Select Store Sync from the list.
  • The app home screen displays the activation status and where your products can appear across supported AI shopping surfaces.

Uninstalling the App

To uninstall the Store Sync App:
  • Go to Apps > My Apps in your BigCommerce Control Panel.
  • Locate Store Sync and select Uninstall.
  • Review the confirmation modal explaining what uninstalling means for your catalog visibility on AI surfaces.
  • Confirm the uninstallation.

Troubleshooting

Installation Failed Verify that your PayPal business account is active, then retry. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does catalog activation take?

After installation, your product catalog will be activated on eligible AI surfaces within 24 to 48 hours. No action is required on your part during this time.

Which AI surfaces will my products appear on?

At launch, your products will be eligible to appear on Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and PayPal Assistant. Additional surfaces may be added in future updates.

Do I need to do anything after installing?

PayPal handles catalog synchronization automatically on a daily basis. You can monitor your status from the app home screen in the BigCommerce Control Panel. Some AI platforms may require additional time to complete the initial setup.

What happens if I already have a PayPal Business account?

Simply click Install and Confirm — if you have an existing PayPal business account, it will be linked automatically.
